Jackson's Jar

“Five year old Jackson Watson stayed up too late one night watching television with his older sister Ashley.  But it was a good thing because he saw one of those programs showing malnourished children with flies buzzing in their faces.  The next morning Jackson got up, got an empty peanut butter jar out of recycling, decorated it with bug stickers and placed inside it a letter which he dictated to Ashley:  “Hope you get a nice home with a pretty bedroom and lots of food.  Carrots and broccoli would be so good.  Love, Jackson Watson.”  He brought the jar to church and said, “We have to send this to Africa for the children to put the flies in so they won’t get in their faces.”  The people at church filled the jar with money several times, over $1300.00 that morning, to send to Ghana West Africa Missions for the well-drilling project.  But we still need to send the jar to Africa.  Jackson won’t rest until we do.”

Five year old Jackson encouraged his congregation to give an extra $1,300.00, then $1,200.00 and then $5,000.00.  I hope he will encourage you to find a jar, pass it around and give a little extra too.

PS  I have the jar and the letter from Jackson.  I will take it to Ghana on my next trip.
