The eleventh chapter of the book of Hebrews is one of my favorite Bible passages. Often when I am about to take on a challenging project I read it for inspiration and motivation. In times that I am discouraged, I read it for encouragement. I have read it countless times. However, I must confess that there are times when I find it difficult to follow the example of the heroes of faith mentioned in the passage.

Since the CDH Home was completed and dedicated I have wrestled with whether to raise funding for the children who will live in that home before bringing them in, or first bringing the children in and hoping that the funds will come in for their upkeep. All this while many children were wallowing in poverty, hunger, disease and hopelessness. We could not wait any longer while they continued to suffer and their situations got worse.

Finally, together with the Board, we took a leap of faith and welcomed 40 new children to Village of Hope. Some of these children will be living in the new CDH Home while others will be taking the places of our children in high school and college in the existing homes where there are vacancies. As I write to you, none of these children has a sponsor. How will they be fed? How will they be educated? How will their medical needs be provided? All these call for funds which are currently not available. By faith, we trust that the Lord will provide. Please join us in prayer that it will be so.
