Our Work

After 15 years of existence, the Village of Hope is giving hope to over 1000 children in all the activities we are engaged in. There are nine residential homes, a clinic, and schools from crèche to junior high school on our Fetteh campus. Our agricultural programme which is expanding gradually continues to provide foodstuffs for the feeding of the children. Many children on the streets are being fed, clothed, counseled, given medical care, and helped to move off the streets through the acquisition of relevant vocational skills. Hope Christian Academy is giving excellent Christian education to orphans and children from very economically-deprived communities. The clinic is providing quality health care services to these same constituents. God is being praised and glorified in all things.

This child care ministry of Village of Hope takes care of orphaned, needy and destitute children with different backgrounds and from every region of Ghana. Most of these children live in nine families on the Fetteh campus. A few others live with relatives in their own communities while the Village of Hope provides for their education. A special group – children on the streets of Accra – are fed, counseled and encouraged to learn a trade at our Vocational Training Center.

Formal education is essential to the development of our children and that is what gave birth to Hope Christian Academy in 2002. All the children in the orphanage who are in Nursery, Primary and Junior High schools receive their education at Hope Christian Academy on the Fetteh campus. The schools are also open to the general public and currently have students attending from fourteen neighbouring communities as well as other parts of the country.

From the very inception of the children’s home, our philosophy has been to run the project in such a way that it eventually becomes self-supporting. One step towards achieving this aim is to engage in agricultural activities to provide the food that the children need. In May 2006 the Village of Hope acquired a 50-acre plot of land at Panfokrom in the Central Region for farming. Currently, 90% of the fifty acres of land are under cultivation with maize, cassava, plantain, pepper and other vegetables.

When teens on the streets decide to make something more of their lives and learn a trade, our vocational training center at the Ayawaso campus welcomes them. Instructors train these young people in tailoring, batik and tie-dye, kente-weaving, leather works, and auto mechanic skills. Sixty-six street teens have been trained since then and presently, there are 35 enrolled at the centre.
