A group of 24 from Memorial Road Church of Christ in Edmond, OK returned to the states this week after a 3 week visit to Ghana. Most of them were also students of Oklahoma Christian University. During their first week in Ghana they learned about practical mission work with hands-on experience, teaching and preaching, in villages in northern Ghana. They even worked in Muslim communities, sharing the good news about Jesus. (The Muslims in Ghana are not the radical/violent type and so at no point in time were these Christians exposed to any physical danger.) The remaining two weeks of their visit was spent in southern Ghana, specifically on the Village of Hope campus and in villages nearby. They tutored children in the orphanage and helped those who were struggling with their studies to improve. They also did a lot of physical labor on the campus, including making pavement blocks to landscape the front of the school compound. This will help prevent a lot of dust and sand from getting into the classrooms. They also painted the outside of the three oldest cottages on campus (Chisholm House, Boateng House, and Traverse City House). While visiting the Village of Hope last week, a group from the Prestoncrest Church of Christ (Dallas, TX, USA) painted and renovated the entire inside of the Chisholm House. With the painting of the outside and the renovations on the inside, Chisholm House is really looking great - it looks brand new! The children and houseparents are truly grateful for their "new" home and are enjoying every bit of it.

Also returning to the states this week was the Rider family (Danny, Bobbie Lynn, Ellen, Davis, and Camille) from Knoxville, TN. They were in Ghana for 6 weeks during which Danny preached and taught at various congregations, towns, and villages. During the Rider's 6 week stay on the Village of Hope campus, we grew so attached as a family that it was really hard to say goodbye. We applaud their sacrifices and appreciate their love.

Servant of the LORD,

Fred Asare
